Blogpost for February: Spirit Anatomy - Discussion Topic

Post by Fightersword »

Blogpost: https://fuccasucc.com/2023/03/02/spirit-anatomy/

In this post, I look at what we claim to know about spirit lovers and how they exist. We start by examining the very basics: What makes a spirit a spirit, and how complex spirits may be. We then dive in to how they may interact with us, and discuss the things they enjoy and the ways their value systems may differ from ours. This blogpost is highly speculative, but bases as much as it can off of personal and shared experience combined with deduction, only straying off here and there to discuss a few other ideas.

If you want to discuss anything about the blogpost, whether that be asking questions, making comments, shitting on me for forgetting X Y and Z, and so on, this is the place to do it.

And yes, I know it's March. It was meant for February. These topics will be regularly made with each blogpost I publish.

I think you hit a good point on the unexpected expectations, whether it be work / life or monogamy.

As a human, I can sort of categorize different relationships as being different, on different levels.

So I don't under the "why" of the desire of the spirit to sort of monopolize their chosen partner. Like humans only have so much time, but they also have limited mental attention spans. You can say spirits think they know better but that is an odd thing to say if they don't truly understand the human world and social realities.

So trying to achieve balance and not overstep boundaries is important. But life goals and "spirit goals" could conflict.

Like I've heard that some people have a Spirit wife and human wife, and that this was even traditional in some cultures. But from your writing and from some of my own personal experiences, it seems like the connection maintains itself best when they have undivided attention.

And it's sort of strange that they may tolerate an existing human relationship, but, from my experience, not random flirtation.

Generally, and it sort of depends based on the specific relationship, I look at that last point in terms of leverage. Essentially, a spirit lover entering into your life when you're in this long term relationship, and then immediately demanding you drop the wife or the girlfriend or whatever, is sort of a losing prospect. In comparison, something like flirting is sort of a one off that they observe you doing, it's not so much a case where you're choosing one or the other if they ask you to avoid doing that or indicate to you that you should. I think if they felt they could easily just make you drop your wife or girlfriend, they probably would. But hell, even if someone doesn't like their long term partner, it's often very hard to get them to drop them.

It's also a question of this ultra long term: it's more important, at least presumably, to them that they maintain the relationship in some form so that they can perfect it 'later', and if they feel they have to allow that other relationship or whatever to get to that point then they will, because if they issue that ultimatum and you drop them, that's the end of things. They might cheekily try to manipulate you into feeling less for the other person (and they typically think they won't get caught doing stuff like that), or into engaging with them more, but they won't deliver an ultimatum or something along those lines, because then they stand to lose. So they essentially act to avoid losing rather than to get the best possible outcome.

I think the other one isn't a question of them effectively knowing better, it's just them being selfish. They like you so they want more attention, and they don't initially recognize why you doing the silly human job stuff or whatever is important for you to live and be happy. Obviously, to them, if you simply engage with them more you'll be happier, so why all that other stuff? I find that their opinions about their mates working and stuff are often the most subject to change, as they sort of walk a mile in your shoes and see why that stuff is important. They also probably recognize more readily, as you point out, that their mate can't realistically provide them unlimited time and attention. In a sense I often think they're as ignorant about us as we are about them, especially in regards to stuff like that. They are clearly faster on the uptake though, at least when it comes to stuff like that and why it might be important to you or necessary, likely because they're much more able to see how we think and act than we're able to see of them.

Thanks. That's the clearest understanding of their motivation that I've heard.

"Perfecting it later" makes a lot of sense.
