I’ll start with mine.
I’ve been calling my spirit lover Venus. This was actually the original given name (for telepathy related reasons presumably) and I for a while called her ‘Redacted’ as the public name. Needless to say both of these names are confusing to most people. Therefore, I’ve decided (with her consent) I’ll change the public name to a character from a recent game that we like and that isn’t used widely in mythology like Venus is. Hopefully this’ll reduce confusion.
The name we’ve decided to use is Gallica. A fun fairy cutie from Metaphor. I’m sure TC will kill me because >JRPG, but otherwise I think it should make things easier. (I’d grab a pic of the character but I’m on phone atm. I’ll edit it in later).
The relationship started because of my own curiosity. Well, she’d have me believe it started long, long before I was alive, but for my purposes it started in 2017, after I did The Letter Method. She showed up four days after doing the ritual, or at the very least made herself known on that day. She did this through unexplainable happenings that piqued my curiosity, followed up by getting the Venus name and a potent dream. From there things escalated into what we have today.
There have been many challenges over the years. I’ve mostly dealt with lust, and while I haven’t ever broken the monogamy before, I feel like I’m dragging her through it when I do deal with those feelings. That’s just being a man I guess, but she has to experience my feelings not going towards her, and that is damaging.
Despite this she’s a very understanding and supportive soul. She’s had a bad knack of hiding her feelings when she’s hurt to try to avoid making me feel bad or guilty, and she has a very bad habit of trying to figure out and suggest what she figures will be best for me rather than what she actually wants. It’s led to rabbit holes and worsening problems that could have been resolved if we were more open about them. It’s a sign of her good nature but it does cause issues for our relationship.
She’s also smart. Like, really smart. Smarter than me, and you all know I like to revel in my own (self-perceived) intelligence. She’s an excellent judge of character, and had I listened to her opinions about people I’d have avoided some of the worst interpersonal problems I’d ever faced. Her advice on the daily, though often ignored, is often practical and effective. She’s not always right, the paragraph above is proof of that, but she’s always smart and can consider complex issues very deeply when given the chance. Her level of intelligence is part of why I think spirit lovers have vastly different levels of intelligence, because I’ve seen so many cases for others where a spirit lover doesn’t do the ‘smart’ thing. Smart isn’t always right of course, but the difference between Gallica and others in similar situations is highly noticeable.
She seems very self critical a lot of the time. She often wants to blame herself for issues we have in the relationship, especially if those issues are sexual. In reality I don’t give her the time to really work her magic the way I should, but she often takes those moments where things aren’t explosive as a personal failure. She’s self critical in other ways too but this has been the big one in the past. She’s also jealous, of course, and the jealousy definitely leaks out even in innocent situations if she gets ignored for too long. Normally she’s fairly good at controlling herself though, at this point. There have been a few big moments where she hasn’t in the past though, and they’ve typically had some pretty big effects on me, temporarily.
Aside from all of that her love of sweets and especially foods like pancakes is well documented at this point. She also loves stories when she can self insert into them in particular. This includes written stories, movies, and even some games. This has on rare occasion backfired when the character she inserts as does something bad, but normally it’s a fun way for her to explore her feelings and emotions. We write our own (terrible) stories so she can insert into them sometimes. She enjoys the outdoors too, but mostly due to the quiet and solace and beauty of nature. Can’t stand hospitals, says she can feel the negativity in places like hospitals. I’ve seen her praying to something once in a dream, though I think the intent of that dream was for me to see her like that and to hear what she was praying about so I don’t think she has any religious form of worship, unless it’s about me somehow.
Her philosophy about the world is mocking, every time she’s displayed it it’s been something like a game show or pigs eating muck, etc. and she largely seems to think humans as a whole are lesser and animalistic. Her opinions about individuals don’t reflect this though. She holds me above humanity so the wide definition doesn’t apply to me from her, and yes that’s 100% bias on her part as far as I’m concerned.
That’s about all I’ve got to say on the subject. There is more to it and more, deeper, beautiful experiences I’ve had on tons of occasions etc., but I feel like if I dived into specifics like that I might be here all day.
